Resuprime MVT is a two-pack surface applied damp proof membrane that enables earlier application of industrial resin flooring screeds, coatings and other floor coverings to be applied onto new concrete sooner than the normal time required for concrete to dry.
Formerly known as 'R.S.Dampshield FH', Resuprime MVT is easily applied by brush, roller or trowel edge.
It is ideal for carpets, tiles, vinyl and wood and for resin coatings.
The two-component epoxy resin primer is solvent-free, low-odour and has excellent adhesion.
It is also used for existing concrete slabs where there is no damp proof membrane or where a degree of moisture tolerance is required for a resin floor system being installed.
Recoating can take place after six to eight hours or once the surface has lost tackiness. For light traffic areas, wait 18-24 hours; full traffic should be 48-72 hours and full chemical cure is seven days.
Theoretical coverage rate is 23m² @ 200µm for 5kg.
Full product data sheets and safety data sheets are available on request.
New concrete must be clean, sound, dry, fully cured and surface laitance removed by vacuum enclosed shot blasting or mechanical grinding, a minimum strength of 25N/mm² is required.
For existing concrete floors, remove all dirt, oil, grease, old paint or any other surface contaminants by vacuum enclosed shot blasting, scarifying or mechanical grinding.
Fats, oils or greases must be removed by mechanical means and detergent washing and making sure all residue of detergent is washed and removed by rinsing with clean water. Local repairs should be carried out using Resuscreed PA.
Previously coated floor must have all coatings and loose floor paints removed by mechanical preparation, then primed.
If the old resin flooring cannot be removed then please consult with our technical team for advice on intercoat adhesion and suitability, as it may not be compatible with the existing floor coating.
Where Resuprime MVT is applied to masonry/concrete surfaces, care must be taken to ensure that surface preparation is thorough but does not disfigure the surface.
Mix the entire contents of the base with the hardener. If a separate mixing bucket is being used mix thoroughly ensuring all contents of both components are removed from the buckets supplied.
Using a slow speed electric mixer, mix for approximately two to three minutes until the two components are fully combined.
The mixed unit should be applied immediately by roller, brush or squeegee with a consistent procedure. Floor areas should be cross-rolled to ensure even application and to minimise roller marks.
The ambient temperatures of the areas should not be allowed to fall below 15°C throughout the application and the curing period, as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and colour of the system. Surface temperature must be above 10°C.
Where possible it is recommended that the application area is heated to a minimum temperature of 15°C. Ideally to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise prior to the installation.
Volume Solids: ~100%
VOC: 85 g/l calculated per full mixed unit
Colours: Clear
Finish: Smooth gloss
Flash Point: N/A
Cleanser/Thinner: N/A
Pack Weights: 3.33 kg base/1.67 kg hardener (5 kg)
9.99 kg base/5.01 kg hardener (15 kg)
Mixing Ratio: 2 parts base to 1 part hardener by
weight only
Mixed Density: Approximately 1.08 g/cm3
Shelf Life: 36 months (Base and Hardener)
Storage: Keep out of direct sunlight. Store in a dry place, between 15-30°C
Application Methods: Brush, roller or squeegee.
Application Temp: Ideally at 20°C
Recoating Intervals: 6-8 hours or once surface has lost tackiness. Light Traffic: 18 – 24 hours. Full Traffic: 48 – 72 hours. Full Chemical Cure: 7 days
Pot Life: 25 – 30 minutes from mixing, based on 5 kg pack size. The pot life may be shorter for larger pack sizes if the paint is not used within the pot life limit. Note: All mixed paint must be used within the pot life time limit, if the paint is left in the container after mixing and not used, it may release hazardous fumes due to exothermic reaction.
Coverage Rate: (Theoretical) 5 kg will cover 23 m² @ 200 µm. Coverage rate is calculated based on a sealed and smooth surface and may vary based on the substrate roughness and other conditions.
System Thickness: (Recommended) 200 – 250 µm. The suggested thickness range is calculated based on average volume solid as a general recommendation for the specified condition and for each application may vary.
