Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish is a high-build, air-drying polyurethane. The finish produced is durable and resistant to oil, water and many chemicals.
Ideal for bare wood, hardboard, MDF and unsealed cork. High abrasion and mechanical impact resistance. Interior use only. For floors, use Rustins Polyurethane Floor Sealer.
During preparation, the surface must be clean, smooth, sound, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants.
Apply evenly, finishing in the direction of the grain using a good quality brush. The first coat may be thinned with white spirit to act as a sealer when applying to absorbent surfaces.
Two coats are usually sufficient on wood. Cork and more absorbent surfaces will require extra coats. Touch dry in approximately 2-4 hours, depending on the temperature and humidity. Re-coat when the previous coat is hard dry, typically within 4-8 hours depending on the conditions - ideally 15-25°C. Do not use below 10°C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage is 14-16 sq.m per litre, 1 coat, depending on the absorbency of the surface.
Rustins Polyurethane Clear Varnish is sold in 2.5L and 5L containers.
