Magma ThermaBand R171 is a HAPAS approved thermoplastic overbanding tape that you use to seal joints in asphalt and concrete surfaces, preventing water ingress and the associated water and frost damage. The overbanding has an advanced formulation which retains flexibility in cooler conditions, making it more durable and sustainable.
Preformed overbanding tape is economical, as they allow for less waste and shorter application times. You apply it using a gas torch on system which you can work with quickly, without the need for boilers and associated hot-work risks. The overbanding can withstand traffic as soon as the surface cools, also minimising road closure times.
Cracks or joints in any asphalt surface are potential weak points that allow the ingress of water into the surface. It is vital for public safety that damage is repaired. For further health and safety confidence, Magma ThermaBand R171 Preformed Thermoplastic has an anti-skid aggregate within the material to provide a skid resistance exceeding 60 SRV.
Curing:
The product should not be trafficked until it has cooled to the temperature of the surface it is laid on, typically under 5 minutes.
