Coo-Var High Performance Primer is a water based two pack epoxy primer to assist adhesion of Coo Var paint on difficult surfaces. Coo-Var High Performance Primer should be diluted with 10% water for application. To assist the adhesion of PROFLOOR floor paint or other Coo-Var products to difficult floors, tiles, etc. or where mechanical abrasion is not practical and chemical etching has to be used. To act as a barrier between old floorings and selected Coo-Var products (eg Bitumen, smoke stained surfaces). Ideal in areas where organic solvents are banned. Can be used on walls as well as floors. Low odour.
All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance. New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months. Other surfaces have to be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate. Existing painted surfaces - Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate and prepare accordingly.
As dictated by normal good painting practice. Do not apply if the temperature is likely to drop below 10 °C during application or during the drying process. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.
